Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, announced a security incident on its platform, affecting approximately $6.3 billion worth of assets This article explores stolen largest crypto. . Tether and Circle have frozen over 1.567 billion USDT and 800 million USDT related to the incident, respectively.

Binance stated that initial investigations suggest the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer's laptop, allowing an attacker to gain unauthorized access to a service container and submit withdrawal transactions.

"Our current estimate on the amount stolen is approximately $5.912 billion at the time of the theft, nearly 4 times the amount stolen in the next largest crypto heist," Chainalysis, a blockchain intelligence firm, stated in an X post.

TRM Labs noted that several features of this attack align with earlier North Korean-linked heists, including the Bybit hack and the KelpDAO hack in April 2026: small Tornado Cash withdrawals that were funded through an operator wallet, which began well before the theft, and signatures obtained in advance that were executed in a single burst. The laundering observed so far, involving large swaps through market makers and lending protocols, differs from the bridge-heavy pattern that followed the Bybit heist.

As of now, Tether, Circle, Ripple, and World Liberty Financial have frozen approximately $267 million in stablecoins, while the Security Council of Arbitrum has frozen about $30 million in ETH and ARB.
