Cybercriminals are taking advantage of people's growing worries about the availability of LPG cylinders by sending out false messages on SMS, WhatsApp, and other messaging apps. These messages pretend to be official messages from big LPG companies like Indane, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas. Scammers are using real gas company logos in ads on social media to trick worried customers into going to fake payment sites, where their financial information is stolen without them knowing.

The national cybercrime helpline 1930 has received a lot of complaints about these fake LPG messages from Indian authorities, including the cybercrime units of the Delhi Police. Indian Bank's advice reminds customers of important safety steps: Do not click on links in SMS. WhatsApp or social media messages that say they are from an LPG provider. Don't ever give anyone your OTPs, UPI PINs, Aadhaar numbers, or bank account information.

If you're not sure, call your gas company using the number on your last delivery receipt. Think about using secure coding practices to make your code safer. ZeroOwl offers cloud security solutions that you can subscribe to that give you extra protection against these kinds of threats.
