Microsoft's Copilot app undergoes a significant upgrade, integrating chat histories and content for individual users while phasing out popular features like Podcasts, Deep Research, and Group Chat. The update follows Microsoft’s broader branding shift from the 365 (Office) app to the 365 Copilot app, which launched on January 15, 2025. The renamed application is now available across Windows, iOS, Android, and the web, with office.com and microsoft365.com redirecting users to m365.cloud.microsoft.

Microsoft Enhances Copilot App for Personalized Experiences For users who use both the standalone Microsoft Copilot app and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app with their personal accounts, chat histories and Copilot-generated content will be combined into one updated application.

Work accounts authenticated through Microsoft Entra are subject to organizational security, privacy, compliance, and administrative controls. However, users won't be able to continue group chats. Security-wise, transferring standalone Copilot files to OneDrive is a crucial step; this move allows for centralized management but requires careful attention to sharing permissions, retention settings, and cloud access policies.

Users will be redirected to the refreshed Copilot interface on web platforms, while mobile users may experience an automatic update or need to install the latest version manually. Microsoft 365 subscribers enjoy enhanced usage limits, access to advanced AI capabilities, agent functionalities, and support for more intricate multi-step tasks.
