A website used to support a bank account takeover scheme was taken over by the U.S. Justice Department. Illegally obtained bank login credentials were hosted and manipulated using the domain web3adspanels[ ]org as a backend web panel.

The criminals then used the stolen credentials to log into reputable bank websites in order to take control of the victims' accounts and steal their money. In addition to hosting a backend server to enable takeover fraud as recently as last month, the DoJ claimed that the seized domain held thousands of victims' stolen login credentials. Users are urged to use strong, one-of-a-kind passwords, be cautious when disclosing personal information online or on social media, verify the accuracy of banking website URLs before logging in, and be on the lookout for phishing scams.
